2022 Art Awards Submissions


Congratulations to the recipients of the LCC Foundation’s 2022 Art Awards.

Receiving a Zimmerman Purchase Award of $500 each are Maryam Bakir for her acrylic painting titled “It’s Ok Not to Be Ok,” Kathleen Brokaw for her vector art piece titled “Uncle Bob,” Juwaira Gharib for her paint and collage piece titled “Palestinian Girl,” and Elijah Zech for his photo titled “The Arches.”

Bakir and Zech are also each receiving a $1,000 Earhart Scholarship.

The recipients will be honored at the LCC Foundation’s annual Scholarship Breakfast in late Sep tember, and their artworks will be displayed on campus in the future.

ERIC ZIMMERMAN VISUAL ART FUND: In honor of Eric Hardy Zimmerman, this fund enables the purchase of student artwork to be displayed in public and commons areas on the LCC campus. Eric Zimmerman graduated from East Lansing High School in 1967 and received his BFA and MFA from the University of Michigan.

LANCE (SCHADE) EARHART AND VICTORIA EARHART SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship honors the memory of visionary educator Lance Schade Earhart, who taught for 25 years in the Lansing Public Schools, and who was also an extraordinary artist and lifelong student. Bruce and Kristin Mackley established the scholarship in recognition of the role Lance played in both the life of Bruce and also countless other students. This scholarship is awarded to art students at LCC for $1,000.

Entries were accepted Feb. 15-April 24 from currently enrolled LCC students to be considered for an Earhart Scholarship and/or a Zimmerman purchase award. Find complete submission details at https://www.lcc.edu/foundation/art-awards.html
