EVERYBODY by BRANDEN JACOBS-JENKINS

Announcing the cast of “Everybody” by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, directed by Andy Callis. Thanks to all who auditioned! The cast includes Brittany Bell (Usher/God/Understanding), Evelyn Malfait, Caleb Tracy, Jackson Schmitz, Samantha Hall-Leonhardt and Heath Sartorius (Somebodies), Emily Brannam (Girl/Time), Dylan Johnson (Love) and Wirt Mercer (Evil).

What happens to Everybody when Death comes calling? Not ready to go it alone, Everybody asks if Somebody can accompany them. What ensues is 90 minutes of hilarity, intensity and engrossing encounters as Everybody tries to convince one of four Somebodies – the allegorical Friendship, Kinship, etc. – to face Death together as well as face the life they’ve lived.

Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his adaptation of the 15th century morality play, “Everyman”, and he imbues the story with 21st century language and dilemmas. Mirroring the seeming randomness of death, five of the 10 actors cast in the play will learn the entire script, and the roles they play at each performance will be determined by a lottery: Everybody or one of the four Somebodies.

The play will be fully produced and performed in the Black Box Theatre Nov. 16-20.
