Be inspired by workshops and performances at Imagining America’s first in-person National Gathering since 2019, scheduled Oct. 14-16, 2022 in New Orleans.

LCC is a member of this nationwide consortium of higher education and community partners established in the 1990s to foster and advance publicly engaged scholarship drawing on arts, humanities and design. LCC became one of the first community college members in 2017, and our membership provides access to ideas, colleagues and resources that can help us build on what we’re already doing, and innovate and grow that work. Annual programming includes research and demonstration projects, publications, conferences and webinars, fellowships, and scholarships for students.

This year’s National Gathering theme is Rituals of Repair and Renewal, and LCC colleagues Prof. Barbara Clauer (English) and Melissa Kaplan (Arts Outreach Coordinator) are thrilled to have been selected to present their workshop at the conference using the Community-Generated Poetry Project and the Please Stay suicide awareness video program.

Earlybird registration is $375 for 3 full days and is available to attendees from member colleges until Sept. 16. There are also one-day, two-day and student rates, as well as a 5-for-the-price-of-4 deal if a group from the same school registers. Registration and more information is available at https://iagathering.org/about-the-gathering/
