LCC Theatre earned accolades for the 2022-23 Season.
The Lansing State Journal celebrates Lansing area theatre productions with their annual Thespie Awards, announced every year in mid-June.
Last fall’s production of Everybody, by Branden Jacob-Jenkins and directed by Andy Callis, received the Best Ensemble (non-professional)/Play award recognizing the director and a cast that included five actors whose role each night was determined by a lottery on stage: Samantha Hall, Laura Nguyen, Heath Sartorius, Jackson Schmitz and Caleb Tracy, with other cast members Sandy Callis, Madeline Nash and Brittany Rene. For Moliere’s Tartuffe, presented in the spring and directed by Blake Bowen, the Best Costume Design award went to Chelle Peterson, and Best Supporting Actress/Play to LCC alumna Erin Hoffman.
LCC alumni are an integral part of the theatre scene throughout Lansing, and several received Thespie recognition, too. Anasti Her and Storm Kopitsch were part of the Over the Ledge production of Songs About Stuff earning Best Ensemble/Musical. Ndegwa McCloud took home the Best Actor/Play award for his performance in Ixion Theatre’s When I Come to Die. And for the same play, Doak Bloss received the Best Supporting Actor award.
The Riverwalk Theatre presents its own annual recognitions, the Barney’s, and two LCC alumni received awards: Ny’Kieria Blocker, Best Supporting Actress/Musical as The Witch in Big Fish, and Nick Lemmer, Best Supporting Actor/Play as Nicky Holroyd in Bell, Book and Candle.
