LCC actor wins award

LCC student Camilla Trudell was awarded Best Featured Actor for their work in the play “Isaac’s Eye” during the 2023-24 theatre season.

Directed by Andy Callis, “Isaac’s Eye” by Lucas Hnath reimagines the contentious, plague-ravaged world that a young Isaac Newton inhabited and explores the dreams and longings that drove the rural farm boy to become one of the greatest thinkers in modern science.

Cam played the Narrator who helps make sense of what’s real and what isn’t. They also played a smaller role, Dying Man Named Sam. The October 2024 production was presented in LCC’s Black Box Theatre, and it was Cam’s first at LCC. A Holt High School graduate, some of their favorite roles there were Warner in “Legally Blonde,” John Proctor in “The Crucible” and Juror #3 in “Twelve Angry Men.”

The Lansing State Journal’s annual Thespie Awards were announced June 5, 2024. The Thespies celebrate community, college and professional theatre in the greater Lansing area. LCC alumni regularly perform with community theatres such as Riverwalk, Ixion and Peppermint Creek, and this year, Ny’Kieria Blocker, Erin Hoffman, Meghan Malusek and Heath Sartorius all received Thespies.

Look for Cam this coming season on the LCC stage. Congratulations to Cam and all the winners!
